Dennis was a leading light in the club for a great many years (starting with Reading Cine & Tape-recording society) although ill health prevented him attending meetings for around the past 12 - 15 years,

Dennis served as  chairman 3 or more times. He also donated the Burke Trophy which we still present to the club member who wins the Novice competition (anyone who has never won another competition before). Dennis was made an honorary member when his health prevented him attending meetings. Before then Dennis was the man with the knowledge and ability to make from scratch any bit of kit which the club needed. Amplifiers, timers, camera brackets, there seemed nothing he could not produce with a few bits and pieces from Maplins.
